Writers express their vision of the Jewish experience and their understanding of Jewish texts and traditions in a variety of written forms, including stories, poems, essays, and song (See Guitar and Songwriting).
“It's itching at my fingers, and poking out my ears
Tickling my tongue-tip, like a taste that isn't there.
It's eating at my pencil, and gnawing on my brain
If I don't write this story now, I may just go insane!”
During the two weeks at Tizmoret, the Creative Writing Workshop will be focusing on helping you to get your story from your head to your pen. We'll be learning about plots, developing characters, editing dialogue, and participating in flash-writing exercises that will get your creative fluids moving.
[Caution: some of these activities might make you collapse in uncontrollable fits of laughter which may take several minutes to recover from.]
Other aspects of writing that will be covered by Creative Writing Majors and Minors:
Writing Majors and Minors are asked to bring at least one notebook to camp, and a pencil/pen case containing several writing implements. They can also bring along any unfinished or finished writing projects that they may want to work on or share with others. Can't wait to see you all soon!
Returning Writing Majors and Minors: the Great Tizmoret Story Exchange is still going on; feel free to bring any work to camp to share with your friends!
